Somalia suspends flights into the country after first case of COVID-19

Somalia has suspended international flights into the country after recording its first case of COVID-19 on Monday.

The Horn of African country’s Transport and Civil Aviation Minister announced the two-week ban soon after the confirmation of the COVID-19 case.

The ban is set to take effect from 18 March, though it will not affect humanitarian and emergency cases.

Turkey, UAE, Djibouti, Kenya, Qatar and Ethiopia have direct flights to Somalia.
