COVID-19: Pence Distancing From Trump After White House’s Positive Tests

WASHINGTON — The White House said on Tuesday that Vice President Mike Pence was distancing himself from US President Donald Trump out of caution, after Pence’s press secretary Katie Miller tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday.

When Trump held a press conference Monday at the White Garden Rose Garden to promote the administration’s record on coronavirus testing, Pence was notably absent.

“The vice president has made the choice to keep his distance for a few days,” Kayleigh McEnany, White House press secretary, told reporters Tuesday.

The United States has recorded more than 81,000 deaths from the new coronavirus.
