ABUJA — Nigerian government forces arrested dozens of #RevolutionNow protesters on Wednesday in a further crackdown after the protest suffered a setback after its organizer was arrested last year.
The protest leader Omoyele Sowore, who was released last year after spending months in detention, renewed his call for the protest, which demands good governance in Nigeria.
On Wednesday in Abuja, police and soldiers beat up and forced protesters to lie down.
“Armed soldiers and policemen stormed the premises, beat and arrested many citizens. They said we have no right to protest,” Ola Fadele told Africa Guardian.
The security forces also blocked several streets and arrested at least “29 people”.
